What is ABT Engine Control (AEC for short )?
Modern vehicles are fitted with so-called CAN-Bus systems. They enable up to 50 separate control devices within a vehicle, designed to carry out various functions, to be networked and coordinated with each other. AEC is one of these control devices. Completely integrated in the system as a whole, it works hand in hand with the central, unchanged engine control device and right there, at the heart of the engine, it ensures both optimal performance values and the typical ABT Power. In a nutshell you could say: the excellently designed Audi engines, for example, have always had two simultaneously functioning engine control devices. With ABT Engine Control (AEC), all engines that did not have a second control device till now, but are fitted with a CAN-Bus system, can be tuned to perform like top-class factory engines. Plus ABT Power, of course ABT POWER - THE MOST EMOTIONAL WAY TO FEEL THE JOY OF DRIVING.
AEC – AT A GLANCE
- Cars fitted with AEC are still fully diagnosable
- Cars fitted with AEO can be reverted to their original condition at any time. This enables a straightforward error search to be carried out.
- Factory-installed engine protection features - eg. against overloading or excess pressure - will not be affected
- The customer receives two years' guarantee on the AEC - irrespective of the ABT Power and ABT Power S guarantee.
- Even if the AEC were to fail there is no danger of breakdown because the vehicle's standard control device works independently of AEC
GENERAL INFORMATION
- AEC takes approximately one hour to install
- It is not necessary to split the standard cable harness
- AEC is connected to the existing standard wiring system using a specially designed ABT cable harness
- No mechanical changes are made to the engine
- AEC conforms to ABT brand quality in every respect – including the plugs, the connectors and the splash-proof casing
